The first time I played Bioshock I quickly got bored and put it down. I didn't give it a chance. However when I revisited it I got engrossed. I've never played such a unique and atmospheric game.
Shadows made me jump, I cringed when the lights went out and I could hear footsteps and breathing in the same room. All this got my blood pumping.
The variety of weapons was a welcome suprise and none too powerful to make the game seem easy.
There was an almost constant hunt for ammo, scavenging off splicers i'd just killed.
The graphics were ahead of its time and the time period of the game is faithfully presented in Rapture the undersea city with grant Art Deco design and architecture.
I've not played Bioshock 2 yet but if it is anything like the first, i'm sure i'll enjoy it.
